It’s alright giving diamonds or power tools for gifts on various occasions. Cards, flowers and night outs on the town.

But once in a while throw something in there that is totally, 100%…. YOU. Something that takes some time and thought. I guarantee the reaction and benefits of such a transaction blows everything else away.. ok, maybe not the diamonds guys, but a close second!!

When I first met my wife over 8 years ago it was love at first sight. Truly.. I fell head over heals in love. And I had never done this before.. I kept track in a journal of sorts everything we did our first 3 months together. Every day I jotted down where we went and various comments along the way..

This was 3 months before Valentines day. I took all those notes and put it all into a home made binder.. you know, dressed it up with all the things us guys don’t like to admit we’d dress something up with.. hearts and things.

I took her to the Sybaris for an evening and gave this to her.. boy let me tell you, that sealed the deal for me. I’d never gotten such a response before from anything I’d given someone..

..but what a way to show you care. To do something so thoughtful.

It takes discipline, but.. is it worth the effort! And it’s also fun to look back at and great to have a record of those first few months. Or days or weeks if it doesn’t work out and you never get to giving it to her or him.
