What Did You Do for Sweetest Day?
I know some people don’t celebrate.. or fight it. It just seems like another Hallmark holiday – made up to make some businesses more money. But I don’t care personally. It’s just another opportunity for me to show my lovely wife how much she means to me and to spend some quality time.
My wife’s sister and husband even made a pact that they weren’t going to do anything for Sweetest Day. They would give each other cards and THAT was it. Well, that didn’t last. I heard he ended up getting her something.. and she didn’t get him anything.
Now she’s plotting that she’s going to have to give him something for Holloween. 
It’s funny how we always need to try and make things even.
I actually had a great time. It just so happened that my wife’s birthday landed on the same day. I had double husband duty. I got her a present for her birthday that she wanted and for Sweetest Day..
..I got a gift certificate to the Sybaris. We’re going to sneak away for a daytime get away. I’ve actually done this before as the gift and surprise itself. But I thought it would be nice to just do it this way.. I was taking her out to dinner for Sweetest Day otherwise. Which we did.. and had a nice romantic evening.
I told her we needed more romance.. Sybaris is great because you slip into a wonderful, secluded, private getaway and it’s just you and her.. or you and him. No distractions.. pure focus on the other.
We do plan on doing this during the day though. If you go at night, don’t expect to sleep. The rooms aren’t exactly cheap. So wasting the money by sleeping doesn’t make sense. No sleep, lots of romance.
